Resolvins provides a novel approach toward inflammation, in that it doesn’t suppress the natural, healthy inflammatory response to infection or injury. A healthy inflammatory response involves an initial activation, which induces factors necessary for repair and rejuvenation. This is followed by an organized resolution and return to homeostasis, or at least it should be. But in chronic illness, the resolution phase doesn’t happen.
Alight’s Resolvins features a concentrated amount of three specialized pro‐resolving mediators which are involved in the process of a healthy inflammatory response. This synergistic combination of 18‐hydroxyeicosapentaenoic acid, 17‐hydroxydocosahexaenoic acid, and 14-hydroxydocosahexaenoic acid provides potent support for the restraining and resolution of inflammation.
Regular fish oil contains SPMs, but not in a high enough concentration of the extracted SPMs to see the profound results indicated in the studies. SPMs need to be carefully extracted and concentrated. Additionally, extracted SPMs contain less histamine content than whole fish oil supplements.
