Accumulation of biotoxins impacts structures normally enriched with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), such as the phospholipid bilayer of cell membranes and mitochondria. The glycerol backbone helps stabilize the fat molecules and prevents breakdown and oxidation, resulting in the highest stability and bioavailability.
